Also worth mentioning it has the best field of view @ 100yd of any optic besides the TA31 ACOG, and it’s BARELY behind it. The TA31 gets 37 feet at 100yd, or 7 degrees. The elcan gets 6.5 degrees, which I believe / if I recall correctly, is 33 or 34 feet @ 100yards. Compare that to the 21/22 feet you get from something like an Eotech g33 or a vortex micro 3x (love both btw), OR the 3/4x on a high quality 1-6/8/10 LPVO (which also get about 22 feet with their 24-28mm obj lens) it’s just a world of difference. That increased horizontal field of view with the Acog / elcan tends to make the 4x feel like “more” Than 4x, if that makes sense. You can see so much more information, you can track moving targets easier, and it just feels so much better than having to work inside a (comparably) very narrow image

The lockback issue only happens with staccato mags / springs according to people from atlas gunworks.

Just a caution, make sure all Holosun features work on your SCS before leaving the store. My son purchased a Glock 19 with SCS pre-mounted from Bass Pro Shop. Unfortunately, he fell ill soon after and was unable to try out the sight. Months later, I found that the brand new, never fired unit did not work properly. So, it is back to Holosun in California for a promised 30 day repair or inspection period. They did send a pre-paid USPS return label. Be sure it works before paying for it at a store or online.

Nice review and great photography! Yeah, using proprietary mags has always been questionable with Tikka rifles. Since they are proprietary (and pricey), you'd expect them to run flawlessly. Other than that, Tikka rifles are one of the best.

Excited about this gun… especially after hearing a 1911 Guru (e.g., Aaron) call the Sig Series 80 trigger “consistent” and “fantastic.” I’ve always worried that I’d not like the trigger feel of Sig 1911s based on the 1911 Syndicate’s review (for example).

This gun has my attention. I've been considering trying out red dots since eyesight certainly isn't getting better with age. I also no longer have a 5" .45 1911 and would like to correct that situation. The announcement of the closed emitter Romero XC has me seriously considering picking one of these up.

I love Sig, but their QC needs some attention. I recently bought a p365 Spectre Comp slide, and the front tritium vile and the rear right vile were dead on arrival. I sadly didn't notice until after I mounted my Holosun 507k to it. Sig told me they wouldn't service the slide with that dot on the gun so I opted to just buy new ones. Sending gun stuff in the mail makes me uncomfortable. Sig should just make sure products are gtg before leaving the Sig store and issues like this wouldn't happen.

I've purchased two Trijicon RMR Type 2s based on your tests a few years ago. I still flinch when you do the drop tests. Knowing that they will survive, I still could not intentionally drop them on concrete. 😕

I’m pretty sure the RMS/K footprint is chosen as the direct mount footprint on 1911 because of the screw placement. Mostly everything, the screws are too far apart to work with the slide. It isn’t chosen because the dot itself is flush with the slide.

I’ve been very interested in this gun, but I kinda went soft on it when 1911 syndicate said it didn’t have a good trigger. I might be back on it though. I’m not a trigger snob, so I might not end up feeling the same way they did.

I think this 1911 is like a Honda Accord and I mean that in a good way. It just needed to be a modern reliable 1911 and I think SIG did a great job with that. It looks good and you can put an optic on it. Its just like any other 1911 but 1 step up. it's like IYKYK thing. Dare I say the best 1911 on the market currently for sale?
